Meet Millie!
Support Worker
Hello!
About Millie
My hobbies include hanging out with friends most weekends, I have a horse on my property and we do show jumping, I love arts and crafts. I would describe my personality traits as Creative, energetic and caring, while also remaining calm and patient in challenging situations.
I actually fell into support work unexpectedly and didn’t know much about the disability sector at first, but I’m really glad things happened the way they did. Before this, I worked in a completely different field and thought that was what I wanted to do long term because I enjoyed it so much. Once I started working in disability support though, I realised this was where I was meant to be and honestly wish I had started sooner. I enjoy being able to support people with their day-to-day lives, help them work towards their goals, access their community, and build routines and opportunities that are important to them. I like being part of helping people live the life they want in a way that suits them as individuals, while building genuine connections and providing support that is respectful, flexible, and person-centred.
My approach to support is strongly person-centred, meaning I always aim to support individuals in a way that respects their choices, goals, routines, interests, and independence. I understand that every person is different, so I adapt my support style to suit their individual needs and preferences. I focus on building genuine connections, encouraging confidence and independence, and creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where people feel heard and comfortable.
