Meet Kayla!

Support Worker

Hello!

About Kayla

I take a person centred, strengths based, and trauma informed approach to support, focusing on each individual’s unique goals, abilities, and preferences. I believe in building genuine, trusting relationships and creating a safe, supportive environment where people feel heard, respected, and empowered. I have a Diploma of Health Science and currently studying a Diploma of Community Services, which is helping me further develop my knowledge and skills within the sector. I became a support worker because I genuinely love helping people and making a positive difference in their lives. I am passionate about empowering individuals to achieve their goals, gain independence, and participate in their communities. Being able to support people through both the challenges and successes in life is incredibly rewarding and is what drives me to do this work. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, going to the gym, spending time with friends and family, and heading to the beach whenever I can. I am known for being nurturing, bubbly, social, and calm, and I bring these qualities into my work to help create positive and meaningful experiences for the people I support.

Services Offered

The supports I offer include personal care (showering, toileting, and grooming), domestic assistance (cleaning and meal preparation), community access and transport, social outings, companionship, support with communication needs, and assistance with behaviour support strategies. My goal is to help each person live as independently as possible while feeling supported, respected, and valued.

Experience

I support children, teenagers, adults, and older adults with a range of needs, including intellectual disabilities, autism, and physical disabilities. Throughout my career, I have developed experience in trauma informed care, behaviour support, communication devices, stoma care, medication administration, insulin and blood glucose monitoring, CPAP support, personal care, and implementing individual support strategies
