Meet Kalani!

Support Worker

Hello!

About Kalani

I am open to a wide range of experiences and genuinely enjoy getting to know each client by listening to their perspectives and discussing their goals, working collaboratively to find meaningful ways to achieve them. I am hardworking and reliable, while also bringing a playful, positive energy into both my personal life and my support work.

I initially became a support worker to gain practical experience in the field of psychology, which is the focus of my university studies, and I have since found the role to be incredibly engaging, rewarding, and fulfilling. I value the opportunity to share enjoyable, light hearted moments with clients while still maintaining a strong, consistent support role that promotes positive behavioural outcomes.

This role has also allowed me to financially support my studies and continue pursuing a semi-professional basketball career, and I am grateful for the flexibility and strong support from my workplace. In my approach to support, I prioritise a client centred framework, encouraging individuals to take ownership of their lives wherever possible.

I focus on asking questions, actively listening, and engaging in meaningful conversations before offering suggestions, with the aim of empowering clients to build autonomy, confidence, and control in their everyday lives.
