Meet Jamison!

Support Worker

Hello!

I am currently studying Social Work at university, a path I chose because I genuinely find joy and purpose in helping others. Outside of my studies, I value spending quality time with my family and friends, and I enjoy simple, creative, and relaxing activities such as colouring. I have quite a large collection of colouring books. I also love to sing, go for walks, and spend time outdoors, appreciating nature and the sense of calm it brings.

I would describe myself as calm and patient, someone who stays grounded even in busy or stressful situations. I like to stay active and engaged in my work, and I aim to be a reliable and consistent presence for the people I support. Being trustworthy is very important to me, both in my professional role and in how I build relationships with others. I became a support worker to gain hands-on experience alongside my social work studies, and it has been incredibly valuable in helping me understand how theoretical concepts apply in real life situations. Through this work, I have developed a deeper appreciation of how support work aligns with social work values, particularly in areas such as advocacy, empowerment, and collaboration with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for clients.

My approach to support is person centred and strengths-based, focusing on each individual’s unique abilities, goals, and preferences. I aim to create a supportive and respectful environment where people feel empowered, heard, and encouraged to live as independently and meaningfully as possible.
