Companionship
About Devon
I would describe myself as warm, empathetic, and approachable, with a calm but energetic nature that helps me connect easily with people from all walks of life.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, exploring new cultures, and spending time outdoors, which keeps me grounded and open minded. I first became a support worker because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and empower individuals to live as independently and confidently as possible.
My approach is person centred and strengths based, I believe everyone has unique abilities and potential, and my role is to support them in ways that respect their individuality, preferences and goals.
Experience
I began working in the disability sector in 2019 and have since developed a strong understanding of the NDIS and disability support services. My experience includes working with clients with both physical and intellectual disabilities, which has taught me that every individual has their own unique needs and ways of being supported. I also have conversational skills in AUSLAN, enabling me to effectively communicate with people who are hearing impaired.
Outside of the disability field, I have experience tutoring primary school children and volunteering in an aged care home. These roles have given me the ability to connect with and support people across a wide range of age groups, further strengthening my communication and interpersonal skills.
