About Chris
I have a wide range of personal interests and hobbies that keep me active, engaged, and connected, including cricket, footy, surfing, snorkelling, fishing, and maintaining my health and fitness through the gym. I also enjoy camping and spending time outdoors, gaming, travelling, learning about history, cycling, and socialising with others. These interests reflect my balanced lifestyle and help me build strong, relatable connections with the people I support.
I would describe my personality as calm yet energetic, creative, honest, and kind, with a strong sense of patience, reliability, and respect. I pride myself on being hardworking, empathetic, resilient, open-minded, loyal, generous, positive, and adaptable in all situations. From a young age, I always felt a strong desire to help others and genuinely found joy in doing so. Growing up with mental illness and disability within my family gave me a deeper level of understanding and empathy for individuals facing challenges, which has strongly shaped who I am today.
When the opportunity to become a support worker arose, I recognised it as the perfect fit and knew I had valuable lived experience to offer. I was drawn to the rewarding nature of the role, and I find support work incredibly fulfilling.
My approach is person centred, strengths based, and trauma informed, and I strive to be professional, caring, and understanding in my practice. I am a patient and attentive listener, and I aim to motivate and empower others while fostering a social and inclusive environment where people feel supported and valued.
