About Alannah

I am currently studying Occupational Therapy at university and have a strong passion for helping others, particularly within the disability field. My studies have deepened my understanding of person centred practice and strengthened my commitment to supporting individuals to live meaningful and independent lives.

Outside of work and study, I am very passionate about fitness and sport, particularly Basketball, Netball, and Pilates. I also love spending time with my family and friends, and you’ll often find me reading a good book, especially by the beach.

I am calm, patient, and reliable. I am an active and dedicated worker who values building trusting relationships with the people I support. I became a support worker because I knew it would provide invaluable insight into my Occupational Therapy degree.

Through this role, I have been able to apply and connect my university learning to real life experiences, working alongside clients and their Occupational Therapists to better understand therapeutic goals and practical supports.

My approach to support is person centred, strength based, and focused on empowering individuals to achieve their goals while feeling heard, respected, and supported.

Experience

  • I have supported many clients with disabilities including those with intellectual, autism, cerebral palsy, dementia, and other physical disabilities.

  • I have had experience in PEG feeding and communication devices (eye tracking device)

  • I have mainly worked with adults, ages ranging from (20-65)

Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR Certification

  • Working With Children Check
